I have a passion for fitness and enjoy bringing that passion to lives of my clients.  I believe in working hard and having a blast doing it. 

I continue today finding new and exciting work outs for clients along with myself.  I have a passion for fitness and enjoy bringing that passion to lives of my clients.  I believe in working hard and having a blast doing it. Exercise is hard work so I find it very important to make sure my clients are having fun while exercising and seeing great results.  

 In 2004 I found myself topping the scales at 240 lbs.  I knew a change was needed and was willing to do whatever it took to change not only my body but my lifestyle.  I began strength training, running and studying nutrition.  As I began seeing results the more I feel in love with fitness.  People started asking me how I was transforming my body and I told them exercise and diet, and most importantly I was making a lifestyle change.  I put down the soda and picked up the water, left McDonalds behind and began eating healthy meals.  I believe that the human body is a creature of habit and the longer I stuck to the work outs and diet the easier the lifestyle changes were to continue.  In the beginning the work outs were exciting and fun.  The diet was like “look at me I eat healthy now” I live to exercise and eat right because that’s just what I love to do.

 I am an ISSA certified personal trainer, an AAAI certified group fitness instructor and certified Adventure Fitness Trainer from NESTA.


Heidi SmithHeidi Smith - Instructor

Heidi Smith has been a devotee of physical fitness and training for well over fifteen years. During this time, Heidi trained for and successfully completed many running races, including two Boston Marathons (1996 and 2008), the Vermont “100 on 100” a one day, one hundred mile relay race (2008), and the Vermont City Marathon two person relay (2008).   

For three years, Heidi was Assistant Coach (and Assistant Motivator!) for the 5:30 a.m. Burlington Adventure Boot Camp class. Though Heidi was physically fit prior to her involvement with Adventure Boot Camp, she happily admits that “Boot Camp has changed my life!” The morning Adventure Boot Camp training has given Heidi even more energy to do the things that she loves. 

Heidi’s experience at Adventure Boot Camp, her AFAA and ACE Personal Training Certifications, as well as Adventure Boot Camp Trainer and Spartan Group X Certifications allow her to help other women achieve their physical fitness goals. Helping other women experience the benefits of Adventure Boot Camp is a calling that Heidi takes very seriously. The gift of a physically fit body is one that cannot be taken for granted, and Heidi is devoted to helping women give this gift to themselves.

John has been continuing his professional education since 1987, and holds bachelors degrees in business and health science, an MBA, and a doctorate in education. He is currently completing a second doctorate in naturopathy. He has fifteen certifications including massage therapy, plyometrics, self-defense, fitness kick boxing, fitness boxing, water fitness, exercise rehabilitation, golf conditioning, Pilates, personal training, clinical hypnotherapy, sports hypnosis, PACE circuit training and yoga. He holds a 2nd degree black belt in kung-fu, has completed the Ironman triathlon, and finished 5th at the U.S. National Biathlon Championships. His medical training includes a license in radiological technology, a medical assisting certification, and training in McKenzie rehabilitation. John was nominated for the Vermont Community College Distinguished Alumni Award.
